1. Project Overview

This solution is a full-duplex wireless handheld radio developed based on the SA618F30 module. The solution integrates the high-performance SA618F30 RF module into a compact handheld body, retaining the intuitive physical buttons and knob operation methods of traditional radios, allowing users to directly configure channel switching, volume adjustment, and more. Unlike traditional half-duplex modes, this solution does not require an external host and can support up to 8 people for full-duplex real-time calls and long-distance communication.

2. Key Features

SA618 core features overview

The SA618 handheld radio offers a range of advanced features designed to enhance user experience and communication efficiency. The following table summarizes its core capabilities:

FeatureDescription
Full-Duplex IntercomSupports up to 8 users online simultaneously, enabling real-time two-way communication without the need to press a button (PTT).
16-Channel Mechanical KnobThe top of the body is equipped with a 16-position mechanical encoder knob for independent channel switching.
Integrated Power/Volume KnobFeatures a push-button power switch integrated with a rotary volume adjustment design for intuitive operation.
Low Battery AlertBuilt-in power management function provides voice prompts when the battery is low and automatically shuts down before depletion to protect the battery.
Long-Distance TransmissionThrough an optimized RF circuit and built-in antenna, the communication distance can reach 2-3km in open environments, with a certain degree of obstacle penetration capability.
Battery Life and ChargingEquipped with a 2000mAh lithium battery, supporting over 8 hours of continuous talk time. It can be fully charged in 1.5 hours via the Type-C interface.
Voice PromptsKey operations (such as power on, channel switching, low battery) are accompanied by English voice prompts.
Type-C Multi-function InterfaceIntegrates device parameter configuration and charging functions, supporting connection to a PC for parameter reading and writing.

3. System Architecture

3.1 System Block Diagram

The system hardware design is centered around the SA618F30 full-duplex RF module, integrating the Main Control Unit (MCU), Power Management Unit (PMU), audio link, and rich human-machine interaction interfaces, ensuring the stability and ease of use of the device.

3.2 Communication Topology

This solution supports two communication modes: standard full-duplex and priority master control, to meet the communication needs in different scenarios.

Non-Priority Full-Duplex Mode

  • Full-Mesh Topology: In this mode, a two-way real-time voice link is established between any two network nodes, supporting multiple parties to listen and speak simultaneously.
  • Concurrent Communication: All online users can send and receive voice signals at the same time, achieving concurrent, real-time two-way communication.
  • Decentralized Network: This network has no central master node, and does not involve channel occupation and waiting. Each user's voice data stream is transmitted independently and mixed into the receiving end of other users. This architecture can support up to 8 users for low-latency real-time interaction within the coverage area.

Priority Master Mode (Optional)

  • Master Control Authority: A device in the network can be preset to have the highest communication priority. When it activates speaking, it has exclusive voice transmission rights.
  • Forced Mute Mechanism: When the master device activates the microphone for a call, the system automatically switches the microphone input of all other subordinate devices to mute, putting them into a "receive only" state.
  • Avoid Signal Interference: This mode can effectively avoid signal aliasing caused by multiple people speaking at the same time, ensuring that key commands can be transmitted clearly and without interruption to all members. It is suitable for command and dispatch scenarios with clear command hierarchy requirements.
